Presentation of Awards to the Best Departments and Study Programs at UNP Commemoration of National Education Day, 2 May 2019 brings blessings to the Department Mathematics. The reason is, in the event, the Mathematics Department received an award from the Rector of Padang State University, Prof. Ganefri, Ph.D., for being awarded the second-best department at the Padang State University level.

This award is not the first that the Mathematics Department has received because in 2018 the Mathematics Department also succeeded in obtaining the title as the Second Best Department. Not only did the Mathematics Department receive an award from the Rector of Padang State University, the Mathematics Education Study Program which last year was the Third Best Study Program, this year managed to become the First Best Study Program out of around 80 Study Programs at Padang State University. This is an extraordinary achievement from the Mathematics Education Study Program. It is not easy to maintain this predicate because there are many factors that must be improved so that it can compete with dozens of other study programs at Padang State University.

These achievements are assessed based on the achievements obtained by lecturers, students, and the entire academic community of the Mathematics Department of UNP. In the past year, mathematics students have won many competitions in both academic and non-academic fields. Fardathil Aini from the Mathematics Education Study Program won First Place as an Outstanding Student at Padang State University. The first hope was won by a student from the D-III Statistics Study Program, Tia Maryati Irfan. Not only that, but the lecturers of the Mathematics Department are also more enthusiastic in making international scientific papers and journals and published on international journal sites.

Recently, Rohadatul Aysi and Afifah Zafirah, two other Mathematics Education Study Program students won 2nd place in the Mathematic on the Paper (MOP) competition which was held at the University of Tanjungpura Pontianak. They managed to compete and beat top universities in Indonesia.
